Body Powder...

A good starting point is:

2 parts clay
1 part arrowroot
1 part baking soda

or

1 part clay
1 part arrowroot
1 part cornstarch
1 part baking soda

Or leave out the baking soda, or cornstarch.

What I would honestly suggest, take each idividual ingredient you think you might
want to use and use just that to test it. You might fine you hate baking soda, or
clay, or whatever.  Once you find the one's you like, start with a simple
blend...scooting up or down the items you like.  Consider using powdered herbs
(that have an actual purpose in the powder) in the powder. :)  Take lots of
notes, and once you find just what you love, tatoo it on your upper thigh and
make a big batch of it. :)

Marcia's Body Powder
I use
1 cup arrowroot
1/2 cup corn starch
1/4 cup powd. rose blossoms....must be the very fine powder...
2 tb. white french, or red clay.

I allow to meld for a week tightly covered....make a powder puff from the
fauz sheep skin...and viola! It is wonderful.
my sisters use lavender powder also....

disinfecting scrub

1 tsp. borax
1/2 tsp. washing soda
2 TBS. lemon juice
1 cup very hot H2O

In a pint sprayer combine first 3 ingredients . Add the very hot H2O &
shake well to mix & dissolve the dry ingredients.

To use spray on surface & wipe off w/ a sponge or rag . This cleaner can
be stored indefinitely . & it also helps retard mold to some extent .

I have replaced the lemon juice w/ EOs , such as , lemon , orange , scant
amount of tea tree ( flu season ) , lavender, peppermint  ( to see it
would work on ant trails ) , etc. It just depends on what you are
disinfecting .    Hel : )

 Body Spray
8 oz EverClear/100 proof Vodka
1 Tbsp. Vegetable Glycerine
1 tsp. FO of your choice
Mix together, and shake well :-) In mine, I color it with a few drops of coloring, and add tiny shells in the bottle to assist in the mixing and for decoration.

Lavender Dryer Bags
I make something similar.  I take 1 muslin bag, fill it with an herb
(lavender, patchouli, etc)  I then fill a .25 oz bottle with a matching
oil - the bottle has a reducer type top that dispenses a drop at a time.
Put 5-6 drops of oil in the muslin bag, tie the top, and place it in your
dryer, under your pillow, in your drawers (the type in a dresser for all you
smartie pants out there), your closet, etc.  In the dryer, the scent lasts
for 5-6 dryer loads.  It also depends on how much scent you like.  It makes
my towels and sheets smell SOOOO good!  I just started selling them at my
spring shows and have been selling a few, but they are remote stocking type
shows so I'm not there to market them.  I think they will do very well when
my farmer's markets start next month.

Marcia's Salt Scrub
I can tell you my experience with the salt scrub. The first time I made
it, I did not add vitamin E to the mix, and when I opened the container
I put away for my use, after about 2 months, I smelled a stale oil
smell. It just didn't smell like when it was fresh. So, I started adding
vit E T-50 (low alpha mixed tocopherol) to the salt scrub and am really
happy with it. Jars I put away 6-8 months ago still smell wonderfully
fresh when I open them. As to packaging, this is the difficult part. I
use the double walled plastic 8 oz. containers, but no matter how I
tried to seal them they occasionally leak a bit of oil. (Especially if
the customers repeatedly pick them up and do a lot of tipping while
reading the ingredient list and such) I tried to find the glass bailing
jars but the cost is out of sight, plus I worried about having a glass
container in the shower and bath. You do become slippery when used! So,
I sell the product in the store in the double walled plastic and always
advise people of the proper use, not on bottoms of feet, not on face,
not on open cuts etc. I do not sell them on the website because they do
not seal well enough to ship. The double walled jars do hold up
wonderfully and I have not had a problem with the salt destroying the
jar. I use calendula and chamomile infused olive oil, jojoba oil, a bit
of shea, vit E, and add lavender & eucalyptus essential oils. They are
big sellers and I use it with every bath!

Neck Coolers

Use a rotary cutter if you have one
Okay--From 1 yard of 45" wide fabric you can get 11 coolers if they are cut with the grain. If you want to cut acrss the grain you will get 9. The coolers are cit 4 inches wide by 36 inches long. For 11 coolers fold your fabric with the selvege edges together then make sure they are even and press. Your first cut comes from the fold and this  done only 1 time. From the folded edge cut one cooler only in these measurments 2inches  by 36 inches. From then on you will cut the rest 4 inches by 36 inches over to the selvedge this will give you 11 coolers. With right sides together stitch one short end and the 36 inch side leave one small end open. (You can use a serger if you have one)Measure about 8 inches in from the closed end and stitch across the short way. Put a very scant teaspoon of water holding crystals in the cooler then measure in 8 inches from the open end stitch across and then stitch the last little opening closed and that is it. Soak the coolers in water for about 5 to 7 mins. These can be put in you ice chest to keep chilled or in the Fridge. DO NOT FREEZE AND DO NOT PUT ANY MORE THAN THE SPECIFIED AMOUNT OF CRYSTALS IN THEM (they could burst). They can also be put in the microwave or in hot water to use for a hot pack. If you have any questions please email me at this address: zerrszoo2x2@yahoo.com. Good Luck , Doris

Becky's Love Dust
1 cup arrowroot powder
2 Tbs. vanilla powder
1 Tbs. honey powder
Mix everything up together in a bowl, mixing well. Place into covered
container (I pick up nicely designed tins) take a piece of ribbon and tie
on a mini-feather duster or anything you can come up with for applying it,
label with directions to dust the body lightly and hopefully have someone
around to help you get it off, LOL!
you may want to adjust those amounts to your own tastes. Enjoy!
See below for applicator directions-

Feather Dusters (for love dust and the like)

I was trying to find them myself and couldn't so I made them
myself. To be honest I was kicking myself for spending so much
time looking when they are very quick and easy to make. I got a
bag of white Marabou feathers from the craft store, put 5 or 6
together in a bunch and then wrapped them with emboridery floss (I
used a red metalic) keep the small feathers on and just wrap tight
around them, this makes for a thicker stiffer handle, tied a knot at
the end. I had found some red plastic heart shaped poney beads,
threaded the tail of the floss through the bead and then put a drop
of krazy glue on the end of the feather handle and pushed the bead
up over the end, then I made a loop with the floss that came
through the end of the bead so it could be tied to the outside of the
container, and that's it! They are very cute, only take a minute or 2
to make and only cost maybe 15 or 20 cents each to make.

St. Croix Soaps

The recipe for the edible massage oil is:
1/4 cup glycerine (available in pharmacies)
1/4 tsp. honey
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract (try to get the clear, not brown vanilla)
1/4 tsp. flavoring
1 drop food coloring( necessary ???? )
Mix well and bottle.  This is a water-soluble lotion that heats up when
you blow on it, and is latex-friendly.  It can be used as a personal
lubricant or edible massage oil

Fairy Dust Glitter Gel
This fun whimsical gel is great for your skin. Apply a little anytime
you want to sparkle and shine. *Kids love this trendy gel.
1/4 cup aloe vera gel
1 teaspoon glycerin
1/4 teaspoon fine polyester glitter (any color)
6 drops fragrance oil (your choice)
1 drop food coloring (your choice, I used soap coloring)
mix aloe and glycerine in small bowl. Stir in glitter, fragrance and
color.
It is ready to use immediately.
I found everything I needed for this project in Wal Mart, in the crafts
and pharmacy sections.
We used empty film canisters to store the gel, 1 recipe filled 2
canisters.

Cleansing Body Polisher with Olive Oil (Peppermint):

          1 cup fine sea salt
          1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup melted Melt and Pour base
          1/2 tsp. peppermint essential oil

This one I just mixed all together.  It made a thick paste (when it set
up) that I put in a wide mouth jar to dip out with your fingers.  I
think I would use this more as a foot scrub or a hand/body scrub, but
not on my face.
